Who We Are

The African Impact Institute is a Liberia-based non-profit organization committed to developing locally driven solutions that fuel economic growth and deliver lasting impact. Established in January 2025 following a strategic merger with Partners for Education – Liberia, the Institute combines entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, and research and policy dialogue to unlock Liberia’s and Africa’s full economic and human potential.

Over 60% of the Liberian population is under the age of 30, presenting a powerful opportunity to harness the energy and creativity of young people to drive national progress. However, Liberia’s economy remains heavily reliant on foreign aid and imports, with imports accounting for approximately 94% of its GDP in 2020. This over-dependence poses a significant threat to economic stability, job creation, and self-sufficiency. Without efforts to develop local industries and entrepreneurship, the country risks deepening unemployment and economic vulnerability. As part of Africa’s broader demographic shift, with the continent’s workforce projected to surpass 800 million by 2050, Liberia must urgently invest in equipping its youth with the skills, opportunities, entrepreneurial support, and voice they need to become leaders of change and contributors to sustainable, locally driven development.

That’s where we come in...

We believe that empowered youth and entrepreneurs are not just beneficiaries, they are change-makers. Through our work, we strengthen individuals, grow businesses, and influence institutions.

We support aspiring entrepreneurs to build sustainable ventures. We prepare young people for the future of work. We help local enterprises adopt climate-smart practices. And we engage in research and dialogue to inform inclusive economic and sustainability policies.

By investing in local talent, industries, and ideas, we aim to build a more resilient Liberia, and a more prosperous Africa, led by its people, for its people.

"We exist under the belief that only by championing the cause of self-reliance can Liberia, and Africa more broadly, truly achieve sustainable development."

Our Approach

At the African Impact Institute, our approach is rooted in empowerment, innovation, sustainability and policy research and dialogue. We believe that Liberia's transformation must be led by its own people, especially its youth and entrepreneurs. To achieve this, we design and deliver impact-driven programs that equip individuals and enterprises with the tools, skills, and mindset needed to solve pressing challenges and seize emerging opportunities.

"We combine entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, and research and policy dialogues to develop locally driven solutions that fuel economic growth and deliver lasting impact."
